PCT 22' Strava journal - Day 15
Whitewater reserve - Camp site (Mile 218 -235)
Day 15 already. Early hike out of Whitewater reserve. We chat for the first 5 miles and try to come up with a name for the little penguin Marit is carrying. The first miles are easy and I'm feeling strong. The goal is to hike as many miles before lunch to avoid the scorching mid-day desert heat. We manage to smash almost 20 miles before noon and we find a spot with enough shade to fit everyone. I take out my biscoff snack I bought at the dollar general (yes, my belgian pride is kicking in).
Maybe I was a bit too proud but after 3 hours of sitting down, I was feeling restless and ready to hike on. It was still very hot and I made a misjudgement with my water. The last 3 water sources turned out to be all completely dried out so I had to survive with only 0.5 liters of water for 5 miles. Completely drained I reached camp (do only watch the last picture if you're ready to see some real dehydrated thru-hikers face)
