PCT 22' Strava journal - Day 9
Nance Canyon - Paradise Valley Cafe - Camp (Mile 140 -160)
It finally happened, I forgot to set my alarm and woke up way too late. The morning was spend with trying to catch up with Thomas, Marit and Bleeder. I decided that today was also going to be the day that I would use my first Ibuprofen in 5 years to cope with the pain of my blisters. It helped and I managed to catch up with the others at the first water source.
We were greatly motivated by the fact that Paradise Valley Cafe was only 10 miles from there. The idea of fries and burgers made us hike faster than anything else. Once at the road we had to rely on the hitching skills of Marit (the perks of hiking with a blond friend) to make it to the Cafe, which stood alone in the middle of the desert. It looked like half of the inside was stocked with resupply boxes, however none of us had a box waiting there.
I decided to order both the American pancakes and a veggie burger to take with me on trail, which turned out to be the best thing ever. Once back at the trail head, a party tent was set up and we joined our friends for a quick chat. It was good to see Dorine, James and Claire after a few days being separated from them.
